Bridal Shower Decor

The Homemade Housewives threw a bridal shower last month for our sweet friend Megan. I'm finally getting around to sharing the details with you here. Fun features included a date night jar for guests to submit suggestions for the bride and groom to use whenever they need an idea for date night, lingerie sugar cookies, body scrub favors with the bride's silhouette on top, tissue paper fringe background, doily buntings, and bride and groom silhouette wall hangings. This was a fun shower to decorate and throw!

2nd Birthday Monster Truck Party

I had such a great time throwing this party for my little man!
My bestie kept him overnight so that Hubby and I could get our monster truck on without him trying to tear into everything early.
The highlights of the decor are the monster trucks that are acting as weights for the balloons, and also doubling as favors for the kiddos, and also the Huck Two license plate which was my grandpa's.
We had lime sherbet punch AKA antifreeze
 and tea AKA gasoline
And I could not have been happier with the monster truck cake! Easiest, most fun cake I've ever done!
My muddy tires are marshmallow cookies sitting on a bed of chocolate pudding and Oreo crumbs. They didn't look as great as I hoped they would, but there weren't any left so it must not have mattered. Come to think of it I didn't even get one.

My favorite feature was this monster truck photo booth that Jim created for us. I think everyone had a good time with it. I did anyway! (and let's be honest, that's what matters)

My only wish is that we had a bigger house so more of our friends and family could have come. Maybe next year, fingers crossed!

Toddler Style

One of the many joys of having children is getting to dress them, right?!
I love this look for my little man

What a rascal! He rocks this thrifted look! I think the key to making this look masculine is the super-hero themed shirt. Also wearing the shirt a little big balances the tight leggings.

Shirt- yardsale, leggings- children's orchard, moccasins- ebay

I'm serious ask your grandpa can I have his hand-me-downs?

Random-ness for the day:
This shirt and jeans were both my mom's- stole them out of the attic. I'm not going to lie- these jeans are uncomfortable but I love them!

Hello, Old Friend!

This post is a major catch-up-post as so much has been happening lately that I haven't shared. These photos aren't in any sort of chronological order.
I dug out the fisher price little people barn at my parent's house the other day- toys like these make me excited to play!
Turns out Huck has the harmonica gene passed down from his great grandpa Huck.
My sister and I went to Casper's for lunch the other day- which I have always wanted to go to but they are only open part of the year and only for a few hours a day and it's really small so if you get there late there's nowhere to sit. it was really fun and kitschy in there and I'd love to go again. And I allowed Huck to sit on the table long enough to get a pic and then made him get down. I'm a great mother ;)
I got a new nephew for Christmas! He's amazing and adorable!
Bubby likes to talk about "ba-by Gunnah" (Gunner), it's precious!
I made this bear blanket for Huck for Christmas and am so happy with the result, I think he likes it too!
I guess everyone in the house likes it for that matter!
I did a little craft show in the middle of December. Unfortunately there was a blizzard the night before, as there so often has been this winter, so not many ppl came, however, my set up looked great and I met a new crafty friend and made some good trades, so all in all it was a good day!
I had a sweet helper for a little bit.

I babysat Nora a few times when her daycare was closed because of weather. How cute are they? Do you see her rocking that moose? And him reading to her? oh man! Hurts my uterus!
Huck loves "Doe-he" (Dorothy)
Christmas card photo shoot

Ok, that's it for the photos. Time to talk about new year's resolutions. I only have one official one although I'm sure there are several things I will work on throughout the year.

My resolution is to make a point to live life, as in have differing experiences throughout the year so I can look back at my year and say "I did _______ and ________ and went here and did that." We tend to be home-bodies, and I'm ok with that (good thing or I'd be a miserable stay at home mom) but I don't want that or financial worries or laziness or inconvenience to stop me from experiencing life.

Today is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year, but I'm feeling inspired and ready to tackle the year, and I wish you the same inspiration and joy!

Thrifting

This summer/fall i did a lot of yard saling and I got tons of good stuff. I am addicted, it's bad. But soo good! Lately it's been cold and there are no yard sales so I have been going to the thrift stores around town and cleaning up!  First exhibit: double knit quilt top
2nd exhibit: cute little lamp that I put a flicker bulb in- fun fun! There is so much more but I can't post it all because then you would know that I'm a hoarder! Plus I have been doing my darndest to get it tagged and put in my new booth at Funtiques- did I tell you the Homemade Housewives started a booth? It's just temporary but you should go check it out!

Floral Sheets

I have been hoarding floral sheets lately- mostly vintage but some just pretty. At first I was just buying them for fabric but then I've been starting to want to use them. Actually all of my bedding is "pre-owned".

Recently I was going to look for a coffee pot at the thrift store and my hubby asked me not to because he thought it was gross to buy a used coffee pot, to which I said "you do realize that all of our bedding is used, right?" I relented though and bought a coffee pot from the store- marriage is all about compromises people.

I had the great idea for this particularly gorgeous twin size sheet to use it to make a pillow case for my body pillow so that it can remain a beautiful part of my bedding rather than being shoved in my closet because it is ugly.

Turned out great, don't you think?!
