Toddler Style

One of the many joys of having children is getting to dress them, right?!
I love this look for my little man

What a rascal! He rocks this thrifted look! I think the key to making this look masculine is the super-hero themed shirt. Also wearing the shirt a little big balances the tight leggings.

I'm serious ask your grandpa can I have his hand-me-downs?

Random-ness for the day:
This shirt and jeans were both my mom's- stole them out of the attic. I'm not going to lie- these jeans are uncomfortable but I love them!

Thrifting

This summer/fall i did a lot of yard saling and I got tons of good stuff. I am addicted, it's bad. But soo good! Lately it's been cold and there are no yard sales so I have been going to the thrift stores around town and cleaning up!  First exhibit: double knit quilt top
2nd exhibit: cute little lamp that I put a flicker bulb in- fun fun! There is so much more but I can't post it all because then you would know that I'm a hoarder! Plus I have been doing my darndest to get it tagged and put in my new booth at Funtiques- did I tell you the Homemade Housewives started a booth? It's just temporary but you should go check it out!

Floral Sheets

I have been hoarding floral sheets lately- mostly vintage but some just pretty. At first I was just buying them for fabric but then I've been starting to want to use them. Actually all of my bedding is "pre-owned".

Recently I was going to look for a coffee pot at the thrift store and my hubby asked me not to because he thought it was gross to buy a used coffee pot, to which I said "you do realize that all of our bedding is used, right?" I relented though and bought a coffee pot from the store- marriage is all about compromises people.

I had the great idea for this particularly gorgeous twin size sheet to use it to make a pillow case for my body pillow so that it can remain a beautiful part of my bedding rather than being shoved in my closet because it is ugly.

Turned out great, don't you think?!

Belts... I recommend them!

Before:

After:
I was given this dress, and I though I was going to hem it or cut it into a skirt because as you can see from the before picture it was not very flattering. But then I added belt, and VOILA! Hot mamma!

I drank too much coffee...

Have you guys ever made cucumber water? It is so easy and amazing! I'm amazed anyway- drinking it right now, going to keep it on hand all summer!
Instructions: Slice up a cucumber and a lemon, put it in a pitcher of water in your fridge- keep adding water as you go- it really is that easy, and the flavor is really intense!

I am getting ready to launch some vintage items in our Etsy shop and I'm so excited! I actually don't want to sell them, but then again I do- it's a conundrum. You need to go check them out.

Also I'm super excited about how photographic the new color in my living room is!

Oh and I'm in LOVE with the freezer paper stenciling we did for craft night- the girls made some great things!

Well, those are the things I'm high on for now- have a great weekend!

Date Night Outfit

Last night the hubbs and I took advantage of $5 movie night at our local theater, and my dear friend who loves to babysit, and had a date night- which meant I got to dress up which rarely happens for me these days.

It has been really fun for me lately to thrift for clothes with an open mind as to what a garment could look like with a little tweaking. I have done a little "tweaking" lately and I finally got a photo taken!

Now all I did was hem this skirt up a bit, but that was all it took to take it from this old lady ensemble into an on-trend look. Floral skirts are great for spring AND it has pockets, yay!

Weekend of Hats

It was a good weekend for hats in our house. We spent Saturday at our friend's daughter's 3rd birthday party, and picked up this little cowboy hat at a garage sale for a quarter. That little ginger needs a straw hat anyway or he'll fry up like a piece of bacon. In other news I made a large Etsy sale to a lady who is a buyer for some boutiques in Arizona yesterday and I'm super excited- she bought almost all of my wine stoppers and 20 pairs of button earrings. Quite a blessing!

that's all I know for now, hope your day is stellar!

He who dies with the most stuff wins

Ready to go garage-saling in the snow
Totally worth it! $2 circus train- Bubby approved! Heading back tomorrow with the truck- hoping the vintage toy box with the indians painted on it will still be there.

weekend recap

Friday I hit a few garage sales and bought some clothes. This is a sweater and matching skirt which I plan to wear as separates. I'm going to hem this skirt to just below the knee.
The sweater looks perfect with my favorite pair of mom jeans!
This is a skort, but you can't tell unless you're really looking. I'm going to shorten it to below the knee too! I'm thinking a white tank and a brown belt will top it off just right!

This shirt needs the sleeves removed and maybe a little tailoring to make it more fitted but I think it will be really cute in the end. Even if I don't get around to taking it in on the sides it will look cute tucked in to a skirt or shorts.

Can't pass up a vintage apron- especially for a quarter!

I've been searching craig's list for one of these play houses, and guess what?! A lady stopped me while I was taking the kids for a walk last Thursday and asked me if I wanted a play house. Can you believe that? It was in the back yard at a rental house of her's, so we went and picked it up for free!

It's missing the slide, but my friend found him one at a garage sale on Saturday, so he is all set now!
We celebrated my sister-in-law's birthday on sunday with homemade pizza. I was on dough duty...
mmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!! Wish I had some leftovers right about now.
It was a beautiful, relaxing weekend!

Bargain Brag- ready to be jealous??

I stopped in at a thrift store last Saturday and got some serious deals. You're gonna be jealous, so brace yourself. First- this coat was $10 but the sweet lady working said I could have it for $4!
Isn't it beautiful?! The sleeves are 3/4 length. So classy.
The rest of this was in a fill-a-bag for $0.25!
Do you understand what I'm saying??? A bag full of clothes for a quarter!
Love this shirt- it will be great tucked in to my new red high waisted shorts- will share soon.

Double knit polyester dress with detachable tie- this thing fits me like a glove!
Perfect ugly Christmas sweater, but it actually isn't ugly- I will definitely wear it next year!
This is a Tommy Hilfiger sweater. I don't think it has been worn, it still had the spare button sewn to the tag. I would have paid a quarter just for those buttons!

I stuffed 4 more shirts in there too, but they weren't as exciting as these.

Now the question is should I expand my Etsy shop to start selling vintage clothing items? I've been kicking around the idea for a while. Does anyone have any experience with doing so?
